Every kennel has an outside covered run but we also have exercise pens that the dogs use at least twice a day. These exercise pens are the size of small gardens and five dogs would be exercised at the same time, one in each pen. We do not allow strange dogs to socialise in case of fights which could result in the need for veterinary care and complaints from customers.
The kennels and cattery are heated for the cooler weather. The heating is thermostatically controlled and comes on when the temperature falls below a certain degree.
We are now looking forward to the fourth stage of our plan. Work is about to begin on a new kitchen block that we hope to have finished in time for use during the Spring and Summer season of 2004. We are always looking for ways to improve the facilities and in the future we will be turning our minds to the cattery which was purpose-built about 14 years ago.
We pride ourselves on the care and attention the boarders receive, we are always willing to cater for special diets and medical requirements. We have a good relationship with our vets, the Park Veterinary Group and do not hesitate to ask for their advice.
Clients are invited to come and look around the kennels any day between 2 and 4 p.m. They can meet the staff and ask any questions they might have on the care that their pet would receive as a resident of Westra Boarding Kennels and Cattery.
